    Default Hand-held Devices

Do you think that you'd be legally alright taking a phone call while driving if it wasn't a hand-held phone?

I think you can set them to answer automatically, but I realize that it still is a distraction to driving.

I personally think that this would be fine. In the area where I live, they don't even have a cell phone driving stipulation yet.

The hands free option has become so pervasive here that our local dollar store carries the sets. Of course you sound as though you are speaking in an aquarium.

It really depends what state you are located in. Each state has their own driving rules. Some states still allow you to drive and talk on your cell phone (Pennsylvania is one of them). If you live in a state that does not allow hand held devices, you can but a headset or some type of bluetooth device that will allow you to drive and talk on your cell phone without getting into any legal trouble.

I know some people feel that the conversation itself is a very serious distraction. But I guess the line is drawn at people texting or dialing numbers and taking their eyes off the road for that.

I've heard that some police prefer going by careless driving laws, rather than specific laws for cell phones.
