The sparsely populated state of Utah, which is nicknamed The Beehive State, has a population of around 2.8 million people. Out of that number, about 10.9% of Utahans live on or below the United States federal poverty line. When legal troubles arise for such individuals, the feasibility of hiring an attorney is usually nonexistent. Rather than face legal problems alone, however, low-income and indigent Utahans should reach out to the state's vast array of community legal resources and pro bono services. In doing so, they will be able to protect their legal rights with ease.
Pro Bono Services in Utah
Qualified individuals who need assistance with non-criminal cases in the state of Utah can turn to Utah Legal Services, or USL. This highly respected organization assists low-income and indigent Utahans in a number of important ways. Those who qualify can receive advice, get help with forms and documents, have their questions answered and be represented in a court of law for free. The Utah State Bar encourages pro bono work, too, especially through its Pro Bono Attorney of the Year award.
