  • New Hampshire Pro Bono & Community Legal Resources

    Approximately 1.3 million people reside in the tiny state of New Hampshire. Of that number, about 7.6% live at or below the U.S. federal poverty level. Such individuals do not generally have the luxury of being able to afford an attorney whenever they need one; furthermore, low-income individuals are often more likely to be taken advantage of unscrupulous individuals and organizations. As a result, their need for legal assistance is exceptionally high. Fortunately, the state of New Hampshire has a solid network of pro bono and community legal services in place.

    Pro Bono Services in New Hampshire

    The vast majority of pro bono legal help that is available in the state of New Hampshire is provided by the New Hampshire Bar Association. The New Hampshire Bar Association assists more than 25,000 low-income New Hampshire residents with a variety of legal woes and issues every year. The organization helps women and children who have been the victims of domestic abuse, immigrants who need help with various legal issues, disabled individuals, elderly fraud victims and many others.

    Due to the compact geographical size of the state of New Hampshire, it is easy enough for just about anyone to get in touch with the state bar association for assistance. It is not the only community legal resource in the state, however; a few other options include:
