  • Louisiana Pro Bono & Community Legal Resources

With approximately 19.4% of its 4.5 million residents living at or below the U.S. federal poverty level, Louisiana is the second-most poverty-stricken state in the country. As a result, a huge proportion of its citizens do not have enough income to afford competent legal assistance when they run into trouble with the law. Dealing with legal woes without suitable representation is never a smart idea; fortunately, there are a number of topnotch pro bono services and community legal resources available in the state of Louisiana.

    Pro Bono Services in Louisiana

The primary provider of pro bono services in the state of Louisiana is the Louisiana Bar Foundation, or LBF. This organization works to support programs that provide free legal assistance to people in every one of the state's 64 parishes. Each year, thousands of people in Louisiana take advantage of the pro bono legal services that are offered through the programs that the LBF supports.
