Default Defective Pacemakers

I've heard notices on TV warning people of defective pacemakers. I'm assuming that the makers of the pacemakers are liable for all medical costs in replacing their bad pacemaker for a good one. They would still be liable for other charges to be brought against them, pain and suffering for one, wouldn't they?

Yes, those companies could potentially be liable for many more things other than the cost of replacing the defective pacemakers.
